Most CS leaders get asked for a forecast and answer with a renewal list. A renewal list tells you what's coming up. It doesn't tell you where ARR lands at the end of the year once churn, downgrades and expansion all hit at the same time. I'm not a math girlie, so this model keeps the math simple on purpose and still gives your CEO the answer.
Start from the ARR Finance reports and set four drivers for each of three scenarios: renewal rate, contraction at renewal, monthly expansion and monthly off-cycle churn. Enter ARR up for renewal by month, and the model rolls ARR forward for 12 months, with GRR and NRR on the starting cohort for each scenario. Type in actual ending ARR each month to see how you're tracking against the expected case. The Summary puts all three scenarios side by side with the spread between best and worst, plus a chart of ending ARR by month. The guide shows you how to set each driver from your own history and how to present it to your CEO or board.
